What’s your favourite aesthetic treatment to perform and why?

Nadia Aminian: For me it’s bespoke facials, I love feeding the skin and tailoring each treatment to suit the patient to give them the best result. I use a combination of manual touch with machine based devices to give the best result. I love these treatments as they are truly bespoke and they are never the same for anyone.

Dr Christine Hall: Skin boosters—good skin radiates. When someone has that, so many other perceived flaws become unnoticeable.


What is your signature approach when it comes to treating your patients?

NA: Honesty and realistic expectations; I think this industry is ever evolving and patients are expecting results that sometimes are not achievable. Patients also go with what’s trending and sometimes that’s not the best thing for their skin, so honesty with patients on what they need as opposed to what they want makes what I do different.

DCH: Less is more. Addressing the things that bother that person in the least invasive way, and one thing at a time. Stacking multiple treatments can increase risk and downtime, and makes it harder for a patient to know which treatment gave what result.

Why do you use IDENEL Glassifier in your clinic?

NA: Myself and Dr Christine Hall tried Idenel for a few months before we decided to pitch it to Dr Wassim Taktouk and to launch it in the clinic. We did this to make sure that results are true and to make sure we can explain the procedure and feeling to the patients correctly. IDENEL gives us the results we want with no downtime, no irritation and less risk. There is no pain with the treatment along with simple aftercare that’s easy for the patients to follow. The results with this treatment speak for themselves. It promises and delivers what it claims to do and that’s why we offer it to our patients.

DCH: The Glassifier is unique: with little to no downtime, but offering collagen stimulation and the delivery of active ingredients up to 60 times more than applying such ingredients topically alone. It is popular with those that cannot afford down time, have a limited budget or want to avoid needles, and it still provides the anti-ageing benefits along with a whole host of other improvements such as reducing pore size, wrinkle depth and hyperpigmentation.

Who does the treatment suit and why?

NA: Anyone can have the treatment as long as they are not contraindicated. Personally, I’ve treated patients with pigmentation, open pores, uneven texture, rosacea, breakouts and fine lines and the results have all been great. The treatment is customisable as we can change the serum in which we mix with the spicules to get the best outcome for the patients.

DCH: Most people can undergo the treatment, and the best part is that it is tailorable depending on your concerns, whether that be problematic breakoutprone skin, ageing, hyperpigmentation, or dullness. It isn’t suitable in pregnancy and breastfeeding and although studies in Korea have shown improvements in those with eczema or other sensitive skin conditions, I wouldn’t advise it.

Can you talk us through the treatment?

NA: The treatment protocol is very easy. We use a brightening enzyme powder exfoliation which, when we add water, turns to a bubble cleanse to remove excess oil from the skin. A brightening toner and hydration mist is applied to help with moisture levels, so the spicules penetrate easily into the pores. We then combine the chosen spicule and the serum and start lightly pushing the gel texture spicule solution into the skin. Once everything is absorbed, we go back in with the Glutagen Skin Booster M which contains transemic acid and glutathione to brighten. We push this into the skin once again. A cold PDRN based calming mask is applied and infused with a cooling device called Icha to encourage product penetration. We then finish with the Intensive Repair Locking Cream and sun protection.


Do you use IDENEL Glassifier personally?

NA: Of course! I love this treatment every year I do a course of five sessions, one every week, to give the skin a boost and an extra glow. If I feel my skin needs it, I will also add a session onto a deep cleansing facial, when I get time that is!

DCH: Yes, including the at home products. One of the best-selling products in our clinic is the lock in cream. We sell it for use immediately after both the Glassifier and traditional microneedling treatments but patients have loved it so much they continue to use it as their regular go to moisturiser

How does IDENEL Glassifier complement the other aesthetics treatments you offer?

NA: It enhances the results of the other treatments we offer by adding extra glow and brightening of the skin. It also prepares the skin for more invasive treatments.

DCH: The treatment works well with most other things within the clinic although LED light, especially red light, is best avoided immediately after treatment, as the spicules can attract the heat. In terms of protocols, we can alternate traditional microneedling with Glassifier.

What do you enjoy most about working in aesthetics?

NA: The results and the ever-evolving industry. It always surprises me with what’s going to come out to continue to enhance skin health and help with delaying the ageing process. I love giving patients the confidence to be within their own skin and to be proud of what their skin looks like.

DCH: I have tried to utilise my background as a half Korean half English doctor in order to share products across the globe, and I love seeing that come to reality; bringing South Korean products over to the UK and watching how well they are received is always really nice to see.

What do you think are the industry trends to watch?

NA: I believe the ‘filled’ look is going out, and the skin glow and skin health factors are taking over. Alternative treatments and I’ve treated patients with pigmentation, open pores, uneven texture, rosacea, breakouts and fine lines and the results have all been great. skin boosters for sure are becoming more popular. Machine based collagen banking treatments and treatments that keep the skin healthy are going to take over.

DCH: Looking to Korea where trends often come from, it’s looking at body treatment, more skin treatments and scalp care, all of which are preferably without downtime. Patients now look to get results with least destruction to their lifestyle and then with as little pain as possible.

What are the future plans for you and your practice?

NA: I am very lucky to work for Dr Wassim Taktouk at the Taktouk clinic; the sky is the limit. Who knows what’s next but we are always on the lookout for the next best thing. I’m very lucky to work with someone who listens and accepts my ideas and helps build on them and for that I am very grateful.

DCH: I feel very lucky to be part of a clinic where my ideas are not only accepted, they’re welcomed and we have been able to bring in new treatments like this. I hope we can continue on this trajectory sharing innovation from around the world.
