Thinking Strategically

We chat to Wigmores’ Product Development and Marketing Director Raffi Eghiayan about the changing aesthetics landscape and how the industry is bouncing back

Q: What does your role involve and how has it changed since the pandemic?

My primary role is sourcing and building up new lines that fit in well with Wigmore, but the pandemic has seen all of our roles change because the focus has changed. We, like everyone else, have had to adapt to make sure that our clients are still able to function properly and safely.

Q: How do you think the industry will bounce back?

It is already bouncing back. The clinics are back open after a lot of early uncertainty but it seems that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Unfortunately, what we can’t see happening any time soon is the meetings and conferences that are a large part of the industry. However, the world adapts and even though at present there are no exhibition halls to walk through, there are still plenty of ways to find new products and learn new techniques from the comfort of your office (or living room).

Q: What's the biggest challenge facing Wigmore?

The biggest challenge we will face is predicting the future effects of Covid-19, as well as the regulations and restrictions that are due for the industry. As long as we can maintain a flexible approach while keeping the aesthetic community in control, we will be hopefully looking at a strong future.

Q: How do you think the aesthetics landscape will change?

I think it has changed already from both a distributor point of view and also from a practitioner one. From a distributor aspect we were very quick to build up our webinar series and platform as well as allowing us to reset the way we do things. We’re now working smarter as well as harder. Virtual consultations are fast becoming the norm as patients spend more time at home. We were also quick to introduce the drop shipment service to all clients who had been or are still closed due to Covid-19, so that their patients aren’t set back in any treatment regimes they are on.

Q: What do you think Wigmore account holders will be looking for?

They need to know that Wigmore Medical is there to support them in any way possible, to help them build on the businesses they have spent time and effort establishing. Whether the support is training, ordering, account assistance or just a request for general information, Wigmore Medical will always do its best to help our account holders.

Q: What have you learnt during this period?

I think that we have all learnt that when push comes to shove, the business can still forge ahead. Our plans were for a complete digital operation by the end of 2021—these plans were pushed forward with the pandemic and the restrictions imposed on us all. We are in a new age of aesthetics and with these new lessons in place I believe the industry will be a lot stronger for it.
